Lissau – Since 1922

Th. Lissau A/S, Jydsk Rullegardinfabrik was established in 1922, where the manufacturing took place in Thorvald Lissau’s own kitchen in Vejle. Since then we at Lissau’s have manufactured many products ourselves from sun screening to AV projection screens.

For a long time, the wooden blinds had been forgotten. But in the start of the 80’s we found some Lissau’s old wooden blinds in the factory’s attic. After almost 50 years in the shadow of the roller blinds, metal blinds and plissé blinds, the production of wooden blinds was put restarted – tailor-made craft in hardwood – a unique tradition, which has almost been forgotten.

For three generations Lissau has kept the art of making wooden blinds alive. Thorvald Lissau developed and designed the wooden blinds himself. Today’s blinds are still based on Thorvald’s original concept.

The roller blind has also always been a Lissau trademark. When the demand for movie screens for schools reached its peak, Lissau developed the movie screen by stiffening the roller blinds, which then had reflective layer applied – and thus the screen was created. This resulted in the large variety of screens we now provide.

Lissau has through the years evolved from a small home business to a modern industrial company, but the concept remains the same – tailor made products that satisfy the customers’ any needs.

As the production grew, Lissau bought a plot in Bredballe in 1969, where the new factory was erected, to this day the factory is still home to the company. Lissau A/S is a future proof factory with a 3000 m2 production area only 1 1/2 km from the E20 highway close to Vejle.

Today Lissau’s products are sold through a large network of resellers in Denmark, and large quantities are exported to the Nordic, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and England.

Design and quality has always gone hand in hand at Lissau.
